The Social Effects of Drug Abuse?
Question by Reaper: The social effects of drug abuse?
Other than effecting people around them, what happens besides that? Especially to the ones who are using it(again, not around them).
If this was you, how would you solve this problem? Other than seeking professional helps?
PS: This is just a what if situation. I just made it up so don’t worry. Anyways, what’s your solution to this?

You would be increasing the demand for drugs in the UK, causing more drugs to be trafficked in and possibly more immigrants along with it….
I would not do drugs, therefore not adding to the demand.
Lol
If this is a homework question, there are a number of publications that address this.
well it depends what kind of drugs you are using.if this was me, i would stop by stop taking drugs
It takes away everything, all morality, all motivation, it will lead to death, jail, or prison. I would hope if I was addicted that I would get hope. 80% of felony crimes have drugs/alcohol related, either by the criminal or the crime or both. That pretty much says it all about the social effects of drug abuse.
Let everyone do as much and as many drugs as possible. We’ll be competing against them in the job market. American-based jobs will go to India, China or Mexico – We who are left in the United States will need an edge.
Also, more drugs mean more dead people. That lowers my tax liability for social services and low-income housing needs. I think they should put crack in candy machines at WalMart. I’ll subsidize the extra 24-cents, so it only cost a penny a hit. Kill those little crack-babies before they grow up to be criminals…. Drugs for everyone – Free! That will really help America…. Kill all the non-contributing, ignorant, stupid and crime-prone populus…. eliminate them from the gene pool with their own favorite brand of RAID for humans.
when you use drugs it tears apart ,your physical being, your mind and your soul
you care less about yourself and those around you, all that is important is the high from the drugs (which due to an increase in tolerance over time, requires more drugs to attain)
Reaper great name.I think that if you are hooked on drugs and don’t want professional help then just ween yourself off.But do it very slowly. If you start to get really ill then increase the dose a little more until you are off.
There are hundreds of drugs and hundreds of effects.
Steve Jobs abused acid in India; he founded apple.
Jimmy Hendrix combined booze with downers; he died from vomit asphyxiation .
Heath Ledger allegedly had pills before he passed.
Brian Wilson smoked marijuana; one of his songs he wrote while high was “Caroline, No”
Drug abuse is wide and varied from person to person. I know a lot of people who have done a great deal of drugs and act like the most normal people around. I have done my share and don’t go near drugs much more since I work a lot these days than in my college years.
Abuse can sometimes be a part of boredom. Or it can be something greater that has been with someone longer than the drugs. My point is drug abuse can be related to a bigger problem that is affecting the person. But you would have to know them real well.
Asking the effects of drug abuse is like asking the response of people when they watch sports. It is different for pretty much everyone. What happens to them by themselves is also impossible to answer for all individuals doing all sorts of drugs.
The social affects of drug use are large. There is the lost of productivity on the job, the danger that others are put to if your job entails interacting with others. Like in the case of a bus or train driver, a doctor or nurse, a policeman or fireman. A teacher or childcare worker. Not to mention the affect of DUI either from drugs or alcohol which is a drug, people tend to forget this. Do you want your child or loved one to have to deal with someone while they are under the influence while under gowning surgery?? Riding a bus to school? Taking care of your infant who can’t care for themselves. How would I solve this?? By using an extensive drug screening program at jobs. Before and during employment, a company loses to much money if they don’t and they are leaving them selves open to liable if something happens while one of their employess was high.
Drug abusers, almost always will eventually be homeless! The drug abusers will spend their last dime out of their pocket to support their habbit! They also, will start stealing items from family and friends that want to help and feel sorry for them by letting the drug abuser live with them! Without getting or seeking professional help with their addiction, they will end up in a hospital or psychiatric facility and it will cost the taxpayers more money because the drug abuser probably, won’t have health insurance! It’s a sad situation of life! Thus, people’s property taxes will increase because of this horrific social disease! Hope you found this interesting!!!!!
Addiction is a progressive disease. It will usually lead to death, jail, and poverty. In my case, I lost a home, a job, financial security(I’m still working on that), self-worth, etc. The shame that goes with it is almost unbearable at times. I couldn’t do it alone. There was something left in me to ask for help. Counseling, AA, co-dependency group, hospitalization, I did whatever it took, and it took a few tries and a day to day maintenance, It still does 3 years later.
Drug abuse, can potentially cause the addict to become isolated, often this happens, were the individual shuts him or herself out from the rest of their own world, causing another effect of course would be that of their physical health, not only does it help the body deteriorate, but also in some cases, ones body becomes so dependent on the drug of their choice that the body eventually depends on it like we depend on food and water, and the mental effects it has on some one can be the individual may dwell on a negative past or event going on currently in their lives, or dwell on the negative out come of an event that has happened recently and may cause them to become neglectful of important priorities as well, also may cause the individual to prioritize all the wrong things in their life, and need i say often times addicts will give up whats at one time most important to them for the drugs and/or other addictions they have, the best way for one to get over this with out assistance if they can is to start to invest into a good hobby, keep themselves busy at a constant flow and leave themselves no time to partake into their addictions, and put yourself around people who do not partake in any of the addictions the addict has, also strive to make great improvements for yourself, that keeps you away from the addictions you have, all in all, keep yourself as busy as possible while improving your life style and yourself as an individual.
