Questionnaire About Psychology of Drug Addiction/recovery?

Question by xSweetiex07: Questionnaire about psychology of drug addiction/recovery?
I am doing a service learning project, and my mom is an active member of Narcotics Anonymous, so I thought I could ask her friends (that are in the program) some questions about their recovery. I need help thinking of questions to ask and how I would be able to tie them into the psychology aspect of my class. Thanks.

You can ask them, when they are tempted to use once again, what emotions/thoughts brought them to that urge? This goes with psychology as most recovering drug addicts will feel the need to use, when they become “bored” are around others who use, think of old times when they used, are depressed…there are many different reasons. BUT asking this to a group of recovering addicts will definitely give you some good resources for your project.

Hi….Very good question…I’m also an active member of NA,and I also go to meetings within my DDP in my local hospital where I first received treatment in early 2009.I feel that psychology plays a HUGE role in drug addiction, did for me anyways…So,I’m trying to think of some questions for you….1st.A question you could ask in your class is….. If anyone(during) his/her addiction had any psychological issues?(I hope I’m getting my questions out the right way,to where they make sense). With my drug addiction I ended up in the psych-unit many times,so with questions related to MY personal history is WHAT I’m trying to ask.Ask if during the course of the addicts addiction phase did he/she act out in a way that could have potentially put them in jail,if he/she EVER behaved in a way they NORMALLY wouldn’t have without using drugs.Your question is simple, but trying to put MY OWN questions into words is difficult for some reason!!! What I can tell you is that when ANY addict is using…they become depressed, they show signs of having bipolar, anxiety, paranoia and many other psychological issues. But when the addict STOP using any and all drugs? Most if not all his/her psychological issues disappear…and with many cases while the addict is using, most times the psych medications have NO effect on his/her psychological issues(while he/she IS using.Strange as that may sound.I hope I was of some help to you,I’m just sorry that I could express my words and questions that way I would have liked.Best of luck to you in class……:).And I hope that you find the information your looking for…:)
