    Something like this:

Herion is an addictive, harmful drug that can ruin lives. It takes your money, time, and health away from you drasticly and can make a huge impression on your life. The consequences are very real and sometimes fatal. Herion is a bad choice to make, and can give you a past full of regrets.

You need something to grad the reader. Start with a personal story or one that you have read in your research about an individual who was addicted to heroin. Talk about the awful effects of this drug. That will pull your reader in and keep their attention. Then discuss all the facts and statistics and help with people with the addiction.

That’s a tough call because I don’t have much info on that topic, but…
Perhaps you could start it off with an interesting fact, because most profs will give you a good mark if the paper holds their interest.
For example… With approximately ___ new users every year, Heroin has become the ___ most common drug for people ages ___ through ___.
Make sure to include your thesis, and don’t forget to source everything!
    Good luck.

Oh and DO NOT include the words ‘you’ or ‘I’ if this is a formal paper. Also, don’t use personal stories. If you are in high school, thats probably okay…University or College, pretty sure that’s grounds for a ZERO

Heroin is an addictive drug, and its use is a serious problem in America.

Heroin is processed from morphine, a naturally occurring substance extracted from the seedpod of the Asian poppy plant. Heroin usually appears as a white or brown powder. Street names for heroin include “smack,” “H,” “skag,” and “junk.” Other names may refer to types of heroin produced in a specific geographical area, such as “Mexican black tar.”

Health Hazards : heroin abuse is associated with serious health conditions, including fatal overdose, spontaneous abortion, collapsed veins, and, particularly in users who inject the drug, infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS and hepatitis.

The short-term effects of heroin abuse appear soon after a single dose and disappear in a few hours. After an injection of heroin, the user reports feeling a surge of euphoria (“rush”) accompanied by a warm flushing of the skin, a dry mouth, and heavy extremities. Following this initial euphoria, the user goes “on the nod,” an alternately wakeful and drowsy state. Mental functioning becomes clouded due to the depression of the central nervous system. Long-term effects of heroin appear after repeated use for some period of time. Chronic users may develop collapsed veins, infection of the heart lining and valves, abscesses, cellulitis, and liver disease. Pulmonary complications, including various types of pneumonia, may result from the poor health condition of the abuser, as well as from heroin’s depressing effects on respiration.

Heroin abuse during pregnancy and its many associated environmental factors (e.g., lack of prenatal care) have been associated with adverse consequences including low birth weight, an important risk factor for later developmental delay.

In addition to the effects of the drug itself, street heroin may have additives that do not readily dissolve and result in clogging the blood vessels that lead to the lungs, liver, kidneys, or brain. This can cause infection or even death of small patches of cells in vital organs.

The Drug Abuse Warning Network* reports that eight percent of drug-related emergency department (ED) visits in the third and fourth quarters of 2003 involved heroin abuse. Unspecified opiates—which could include heroin—were involved in an additional 4 percent of drug-related visits.

“Heroine is an addictive drug. although many young ppl are not fimiliar with it, we need to become more educated on the effects of heroine and discuss reasons to stay away from it….(add pieces of research topics here)In conclusion; for the non educated, it is a silent killer. (blah blah blah reiterate)”

To start off, you want to make a statement that will grab the attention of the reader and make the reader want to read more. You could use something about the number of people that abuse heroine (Today, in the U.S. alone, over 50,000 Americans from ages 13 to 90 are abusing heroine right now! { example, statistics not accurate}). You want to use some sort of attention grabber like “Heroine abuse kills…” or “Imagine something that (things it does to someone) and it is available in our alleyways.” If you need more, I don’t mind e-mails!

Opium played a part in wars between Great Britain and China. The Chinese restricted Britain from trading in China around the 1700’s so the Brits started shipping Opium to China to get the people hooked and undermine the Chinese. It lead to a war or two with China. There is an article on it at Wikipedia. It said that Opium was against the law in the British Isles, but the Brits dealt it in India and China.
